Dear School Community: I hope you are handling the on-going shelter-in-place with resolve and good humor. I am sure many of you are seeing news reports and/or have read the letter issued by State Superintendent Thurmond's office which was echoed by Governor Newsome today. Their message is that it appears our students will not be able to return to the classroom this year. It may be wise to keep that possibility in mind, however, there has been no definitive direction from the Governor's office or from Public Heath indicating an extension of our current school closures at this time. We will continue distance learning through at least May 1 and longer if necessary. We continue to work with Marin Health Department around issues of public safety and school closure. Should we receive definitive information on an extension of our current school closure we will communicate it immediately. Dear Bolinas-Stinson and Lagunitas School Communities: In an effort to support the state-wide shelter-in-place order and to do our part in slowing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are asking school staff not to come to school until further notice. Employees who are essential to providing food service and sanitation will be allowed on campus for short periods of time to complete essential tasks. Families receiving lunch at school should use the regular pick-up location and not remain longer than necessary. Thanks again to all members of our community for working together in this effort to protect public health and the safety of others. We will provide another update after the county-wide conference call tomorrow morning. Please stay safe and remember to be kind and patient with each other.

School Closure update: Both Lagunitas and Bolinas-Stinson Schools are anticipated to remain closes to students through at least April 7 in accordance with the shelter-in-place order. Thank you for your patience. Please watch this space for updates.

MESSAGE TO SCHOOL EMPLOYEES: As per the shelter-in-place order, please do not come to school beginning on Tuesday, 3/17. There is an exception for employees who have been pre-authorized to perform essential services. Thank You.

FROM LAGUNITAS SCHOOL DISTRICT: Dear Lagunitas and Bolinas-Stinson School Families: This afternoon Health Officers in the Greater Bay Area are issuing a Shelter-In-Place directive. The School District will provide more details as they become known. As of now, the Department of Public Health advises that you should stay at home and leave only to access essential services. Essential services that will remain available are as follows: • Healthcare • Schools (Though classes are cancelled some services may continue.) • grocery stores • other places providing fresh food • pharmacies • gas stations • banks • garbage service, • plumbers • electricians • laundry mats • restaurants, but deliver or carry out only The most important element of this directive is to limit contact with others so as to decrease the rate of spread of the COVID-19 virus. Social distancing including keeping at least 6 feet away from others is strongly advised as is continued frequent hand washing. If you become ill, call your healthcare provider for specific guidance. While this guidance is important for everyone, compliance is critical for people age 65 and up and for those who care for them directly. Solitary outdoor activities are acceptable, for example dog walking, hikes alone or with small groups when individuals stay 6 feet apart. Remember, this is a nation-wide effort and each of us can help by following the directions of our Public Health leaders. MESSAGE TO EMPLOYEES: Dear Employees of the Bolinas-Stinson and Lagunitas School Districts: On behalf of our administration teams, I want to thank you all for the flexibility and commitment you have shown so far as our schools deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. It is heartening to see people being community-minded when we face new challenges. At a time like this, teamwork and taking care of each other is our best path to getting back to normal. I am aware that there is some anxiety as we head into this week. My hope is that this message will reassure all of you that while we are at an unprecedented place in our history, we will get through this together and will learn and grow from the experience. • Do not worry about your pay and benefits. Our plan is process payroll as though school is running normally. We will not deduct any sick leave during this time. • On Monday, March 16: Our campuses will be closed. Please do not come to work unless you have authorization from me or your site principal. • From Tuesday March 17- Friday March 27: Classes have been cancelled but school is not technically “closed”. That means that employees who would like to work from campus (without students present) may come to school. Employees may also elect to work from home. DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL IF YOU FEEL ILL. • If you choose to come to school at any time in the next two weeks: E-mail, text or sign in in person with the District Secretary: Bolinas-Stinson: johannas@bolinas-stinson.org Lagunitas: lwickersham@lagunitas.org Be sure to give Johanna or Liz the following information: 1. The date you will be on campus. 2. Where you went while you were there. 3. What kind or work you did (a brief description… lesson planning, feeding class pets etc.) 4. What time you left. We have taken the step of cancelling classes not because we suspect the presence of COVID -19 at school. The class cancellation is in response to a recommendation from Public Health to limit concentrations of student to support regional efforts to slow the spread of the virus. Our sanitation efforts are being implemented out of an abundance of caution. FROM LAGUNITAS SCHOOL DISTRICT: As per Health Dept. Advice: The Lagunitas School District has cancelled classes from Monday March 16 through March 27. (There are currently no suspected cased of COVID-19 in our school community.) More details to follow by 4:00PM today.

FROM LAGUNITAS SCHOOL DISTRICT: School will be open tomorrow, Friday March 13. The Superintendent has a scheduled conference call with the Public Health Department early tomorrow morning and will provide more information about probable closure next week. At this time Public Health has not recommended closure for tomorrow and other nearby districts will remain open on Friday as well. Please watch this space for updates.
